Old apple trees dot our Maine countryside. Fiddlehead ferns are gathered when they first come up in the spring. We like them boiled and then served with butter, salt and pepper. Wild Phlox or possibly Dame's Rocket crops up in many unattended areas, adds beauty and perfumes the air. This spot seemed especially lovely one spring morning.
